This javascript app employs various OCR and translation API’s to allow one to get a general idea of what’s been written. Many words when taken individualy or out of context translate poorly so the idea is to use the full translation for the basis of the translation and hover over individual characters in diagrams to help coorelate their meaning with overall main translation.

This is a desktop only interactive translation of the “Inside X68000” pdf. Use the arrow keys to navigate forward (right) , back (left), and up / down to toggle the blue bounding boxes which indicate a word has been translated. Use the mouse to hover over the Japanese text on the left 1/2 of the screen to see the immediate translation of that word. Click on the right 1/2 of screen to get the entire translated text in a pop-window so you may copy/paste its contents.

I do not speak Japanese and rarely speak javascript so please take this as just a quick proof-of-concept experiment to test the capabilities of the available translation tools made available by large cloud vendors. That said, I hope you find it useful, I personally was able to translate enough of the text for my own X68000 homebrew requirements using this tool.
